ANNNA -- NOT THIS WAY..

It's time to stop and think before being carried away by an unruly hurricane named " ANNA". we must be aware of the consequences and fall outs... I have no doubt that the war against corruption must go on with all effectiveness... but we must also remember that this almost anti-govt movement is being tolerated by the government for the reasons that the constitution has granted us right of expression and assemble, which can not be stripped away so long as our strong judiciary is there to enforce such right.. we all know that our basic rights emanates from our constitution, which itself owes its existence to our democratic political system. if we start doubting our political and judicial system and start bringing about changes ignoring or bypassing the political system, I fear that there is possibility of losing all rights and privileges, we have been conferred by our constitution. Once we start playing with provisions of constitution and ignoring it, no one would remain safe for a longer period of time, and time would come when the rule of'" might is right" start showing its effect also in political arena and teeth less judiciary would do nothing to prevent them.
what I want to say is that we should not compel any government to act in prescribed manner, the constitution has given us right not to elect such government which has not taken into account the mandate of people during its reign. But we should not indulge in blackmailing. If the sentiments against corruption are so strong, then we require no extra legislation for that. it can be wiped out the moment every one stop greasing the palm of corrupts and report the matter to the authority, beside social condemnation of such corrupts.... Taking the enthusiasm and consciousness prevailed at present, I do not feel that it can not be eliminated.... So far Anna is concerned , I request him to come to the mainstream of the political system and fight election, and people of the country would not disappoint him... and do what ever he wants to do for the country......

  1. The most irritating thing about Anna supporters is they keep asking you to 'stop sitting in AirCon rooms and actually DO something'. What is their issue against AirCon? Is it corrupt? Is it in the government? What? And then this whole 'stop discussing, and DO something'. What's the problem with discussing? Is it corrupt? Is it in the government? What?
Fighting against corruption is indeed a noble cause, but the way they fought for it is totally wrong. Anna Hazare blackmailed the government to have his demands fulfilled by using thousands of naive individuals who didnt even know what they are fighting for. It was more of an anti-establishment campaign. Pick up any random guy from the crowd supporting Anna and ask him the difference between the Jan Lokpal Bill and the govt's version of the lokpal bill, the implications of bringing the judiciary and the PM under it or even what the LOKPAL is, odds are high that he wont be having any answers. There is a constitutional machinery in place, why are we trying to disassemble it into pieces? And the way this spineless government is handling things, it wont take too long before the country is stripped off its democratic attire.
And Lokpal is not the only solution, we have a Comptroller and Auditor General in place to take care of corruption, we just need to channelise and widen his authority a bit.
Arm-twisting the government with the help of a few thousand ignorant common people is not justifiable at all. What they are asking for is not reasonable and should not be asked for. And as far as movement being "peaceful and in conformity with the fundamental rights", even the freedom of speech, expression and association as enshrined in the Article 19 is a qualified right subject to reasonable restrictions. Blocking the roads, gheroafying the PMs residence is not PEACEFUL at all and disrupts Public Order and hence is not protected by the much talked about fundamental rights.
Moreover, the common man will be happy even if the govt's version of Lokpal bill is passed, not bringing the PM and the judiciary within its ambit wont be of too much detriment for the common man, instead it might jeopardise his well being if the Lokpal turns out to be corrupts and stalls the democratic machinery by vexing the PM and the Judiciary for his personal gains.
And as far as corruption in Judiciary is concerned, Judicial Accountability Bill is about to be enacted, to anna's demand is superfluos, frivolous.
